Highest 2 Lowest is a 2025 American neo-noir crime thriller directed by Spike Lee. Serving as an English-language reimagining of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 classic High and Low—itself adapted from Ed McBain’s 1959 novel King’s Ransom—the film brings a fresh, modern edge to the story. The cast includes Denzel Washington, Ilfenesh Hadera, Jeffrey Wright, A$AP Rocky, and Ice Spice in her feature film debut. It also marks the first collaboration between Lee and Washington since 2006’s Inside Man.
