Poppa Snoop

Vernell “Poppa Snoop” Varnado is a decorated U.S. Army veteran, cultural figure, and respected advocate for veterans. He entered military service in December 1967, serving as a cannoneer with Battery B, 60th Artillery, 4th Battalion during the Vietnam War. His bravery and sacrifice earned him three Purple Hearts, marking a distinguished record of service to his country.

Beyond his military legacy, Varnado is widely known as the father of global music icon Snoop Dogg, a role that has placed him in the public eye while allowing him to forge his own path. In entertainment, Poppa Snoop has made select film appearances, including roles in Make It Rain (2008), All Eyez on Me (2017), and most recently Trouble Man (2025), starring Michael Jai White- now playing on STARZ. His on-screen work reflects his authenticity and experience, resonating with audiences across all generations.

Today, Poppa Snoop serves as the Ambassador of the Veteran6 Foundation, continuing his lifelong mission of service. He is a passionate advocate for homeless veterans and those suffering from the long-term health effects of Agent Orange, using his voice and platform to raise awareness and support meaningful solutions.
